The Bright Futures Learning story began in 1999 under the name Sensory
Foundations. It started as an occupational therapy clinic which provided
sensory-integration-based therapy. Soon is was apparent that this specialized
therapy yielded results not only in traditional occupational therapy areas, but
also in academic ability.
This recognition led to a collaboration with educators who had expertise in
working with challenged learners. A new learning system was then developed to
help students achieve success in school. This new system was first implemented
in summer programs until, in 2003, the first Bright Futures Learning Center was
opened in Florence, South Carolina. One year later a second clinic was opened in
Granite Bay California.
On the success of these centers, Bright Futures Learning extended its reach in
2005 by applying the same learning principles within the framework of
Supplemental Education Services made available through the Federal No Child Left
Behind Act. This has allowed Bright Futures Learning to serve a segment of
children with great need—the economically disadvantaged.
Today Bright Futures Learning is serving thousands of children across the
country and continues to be committed to providing excellence in service and
results-based instruction.
