Why Bright Futures Learning?

Bright Futures Learning is a provider of After-School Tutoring through Supplemental Educational Services (SES), Title One funding. SES is authorized under the No Child Left Behind Legislation. We have been serving students in public schools through SES since 2004, and have served over 19,700 children in that time. We currently serve students of eligible schools in California, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

We are committed to helping every child build their confidence in their abilities so that they can be successful in school and in life. Many children have trouble in school because they have problems processing what they see and hear. This affects their ability to learn. Common warning signs of difficulties with processing are when your child:

  • Has trouble with homework
  • Becomes easily frustrated or discouraged
  • Shows poor writing skills
  • Has trouble learning new information
  • Does not remember information

Bright Futures Learning believes in "treating the whole child." We do not stop at what your child doesn’t know, but at why your child isn’t able to learn it. By finding out all parts of your child’s learning, we help the child develop skills that will help them in the future.

Together with the parent and the teacher, we form a team that gives your child the individual attention that he needs to succeed. We prepare an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for your child based upon our assessment, and set goals to improve achievement. We send home an Academic Session Record (ASR) after each tutoring session so you can monitor your child’s progress.

Our program offers:
  • Assessments – we use assessment instruments with validity and reliability to evaluate your child’s needs and build the ILP to improve these areas.
  • Sensory Processing Activities - Focus2Learn activities are done every session to improve your child’s attention span, focus, retention, and processing speed while boosting physical health.
  • Small Groups – our classes have no more than seven students per instructor.
  • Highly Qualified Instructors – we hire tutors that are carefully selected for their qualifications and teaching experience. These instructors are trained to administer a carefully planned and sequenced, multi-sensory approach to learning.
  • Choice of Subject Area - Language Arts (ELA) or Math is available so that we can focus on your child’s weakness:
    • Language Arts Curriculum that addresses phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary development and comprehension
    • Math Curriculum that incorporates the ten strands recommended by NCTM: Number & Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Data Analysis & Probability, Problem Solving, Reasoning and Proof, Communication, Connections, and Representation
  • Instructional Strategies – we use explicit, systematic, focused, intensive training interventions and precisely delivered direct instruction with modeling, guided practice and application.
  • Communication – Our Online Management System (OMS) allows parents and district staff with internet access to track their student’s information, including pre-and post-test results and attendance. We send home an Academic Session Record (ASR) after each tutoring session so you can monitor your child’s progress.
