Our Program

Welcome to Bright Futures Learning, where "Treating the Whole Child" is our motto. Our supplemental and intervention education programs go beyond the traditional tutoring approach to address WHY a student is struggling. This allows us to successfully work with many types of struggling learners, including those with auditory and visual processing issues, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD and writing difficulties. We assess on a multi-dimensional scale, looking at what the student does and does not know as well why she/he has not mastered the material. We treat the whole child to discover each individual roadblock to learning.

Does your student or your child . . .

  • have difficulties reading and math;
  • have poor reading comprehension skills;
  • have difficulties with spelling;
  • have poor writing skills;
  • have problems following written and/or verbal directions and completing tasks;
  • become easily frustrated and discouraged;
  • perform poorly on assessment activities; or
  • have academic achievement levels which are below ability?

Then you may wish to consider the services Bright Futures Learning can offer your child, school, students, and parents. Struggling learners are those we serve best!

Our program consists of:

  • Assessment: Only assessment instruments with the highest validity and reliability are used. For example, the Phonological Awareness Test is used to assess phonemic awareness skills; different levels of this assessment are appropriate to administer in grades K-8th. The results of this assessment generate an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each student. This ILP reports on the child’s strengths as well as the skills which “Need Improvement”. This is an organized "roadmap" for the teacher. The ILP is designed to ensure that our program meets the specific achievement goals of each student.
  • Reading Curriculum: The skills based, instructional content and objectives of Bright Futures Learning represent a balanced curriculum with five core elements of effective reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary instruction, and comprehension. The reading curriculum, based on Orton-Gillingham Method of Teaching and Alphabetic Principle, follows the sequence of skills and is aligned to the South Carolina Standards of Learning.
  • Math Curriculum: incorporates the ten strands recommended by NCTM which are: Number & Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Data Analysis & Probability, Problem Solving, Reasoning & Proof, Communication, Connections and Representation.
  • Sensory Academics: A variety of activities, appropriate for kindergarten through adult learners, has been incorporated into our program to improve the student’s ability to organize and interpret information. Activities that strengthen visual-motor coordination, eye-hand coordination, visual and auditory processing are an integral component of our program. These processing skills provide the foundation for academic achievement. Our multi-sensory approach promotes an improved ability to process sensory information and significantly increase overall progress toward academic success.
  • Intervention Services: Services are offered in four settings:
    • Clinic settings for individuals;
    • After-school services as approved Supplemental Educational Services (SES) provider;
    • Responsiveness to Intervention (RIT) programs (IDEA 2004) during the school day; and
    • Intervention programs for struggling readers during the school day
